A variety of unique artwork in a range of prices will be for sale, including paintings, drawings, prints, sculptures, and photographs. You will also find one-of-a-kind crafts in both contemporary and traditional styles, including ceramics, hand blown glass, furniture, jewelry, fiber art, and more! Artists may apply from November through the first Friday in February. Applications will be available online starting November 1, 2008.
Qualifications
- Art in the Park jurors use standards established by the American Craft Council to select the show
- Art in the Park does not accept dried or pressed flower arrangements, candles, soap, food items, or prefabricated items
- Art in the Park has a one artist / one booth policy
- Artists may only display and sell items from the category in which they are juried and selected
- Original artworks only!
Exhibition Space
- Art in the Park is an outdoor event that takes place rain or shine
- Each artist is allotted a 10’ x 10’ lawn space on which to set up covered tents or booths
- Booth spaces are numbered and assigned by lottery
- Booth configurations are designed to optimize foot traffic patterns on the grounds of the Sculpture Park. Exhibiting artists must be prepared to deal with the unevenness of the Park’s natural terrain
- On the day of the event, maps with artists’ names, Web sites, booth numbers, and locations will be distributed to all visitors
Art in the Park: Food Concessions
When appetites strike, visitors may choose from a variety of food and drink options. Art in the Park features a multitude of culinary delights; everything from barbeque fare to burritos to cooling Italian ice, as well as a wide array of appealing vegetarian and gourmet lunch items.
We are looking for food vendors who offer healthy ethnic or vegetarian foods. Please contact Karen Crane at kcrane@decordova.org
Art in the Park: Hands-on Art Activities
Art Activities
Fun for kids and adults, too! Art in the Park provides an opportunity for children (and adults!) to be inspired by the art around them, and to create their own works of art.
Art in the Park 2009 Art Activities are being developed:
- T-shirt painting: Experience the fun of wearable art by creating a one-of-a-kind painted t-shirt with fabric paints! $5 per t-shirt.
- “Make Dad a Card” with the Gropius House: Using multi-media, create your own greeting card for Father’s Day.
- Chalkscape / Seascape: Join us outdoors as we create a gigantic artwork in chalk on the driveway—sweeping by Alice’s Garden and to the back of the Museum.
- All activities are free with Festival admission unless otherwise noted.
Art in the Park: Performers
Art in the Park features primarily New England-based performers—including street performers and musicians. To apply as a performer, click here. Application deadline is January 15, 2009.
